What Is RBN-IETF-FRAME-RELAY-DTE-CAP?
RBN-IETF-FRAME-RELAY-DTE-CAP is an Ericsson AGENT-CAPABILITIES module describing SmartEdge/SSR BRAS support for the IETF Frame Relay DTE MIB (RFC 2115), which covers Frame Relay data terminal equipment interface and PVC status. It defines no objects itself, only documenting which Frame Relay groups (interface configuration, DLCI/PVC status counters) the SmartEdge SNMP agent implements. For monitoring purposes it indicates whether Frame Relay circuit and PVC health data can be polled on the platform, which matters for legacy WAN links still carrying Frame Relay traffic. It is explicitly tied to and a conformance statement for the IETF FRAME-RELAY-DTE-MIB. Typical deployment is as reference documentation for SmartEdge MSER, SM, and SSR routers still supporting legacy Frame Relay WAN interfaces. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the RBN-IETF-FRAME-RELAY-DTE-CAP file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in RBN-IETF-FRAME-RELAY-DTE-CAP. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Ericsson/Redback SmartEdge Multi-service Edge Router (MSER)
- SmartEdge Metro Ethernet (SM) platform
- Smart Service Router (SSR)
Monitoring Examples
Since sample_objects is empty, there are no direct polling targets in this module; instead an operator would check the capabilities clause before polling frDlcmiTable or similar Frame Relay PVC-status objects in the base MIB, to confirm whether a given SmartEdge SEOS release surfaces DLCI-level state such as active/inactive PVC status for a Frame Relay circuit. This helps diagnose a Frame Relay link showing a DLCI down to a remote DTE.
What Can Be Monitored
- Frame Relay DTE group support
- PVC/DLCI status visibility
- Frame Relay interface conformance
