What Is RAY3-MIB?

RAY3-MIB is a vendor-specific enterprise MIB from RACOM, a Czech manufacturer of licensed microwave point-to-point/point-to-multipoint radios, covering the RAy3 radio-unit product series used for wireless backhaul links. It exposes basic product identity (productName, serialNumber, unitType, deviceName), software version information, and radio-link/interface status objects including peer/station pairing and Ethernet port link state. It is explicitly built for monitoring hardware and software status of the radio: swVer/swVerRadio report firmware versions on the main unit and radio module, systemStatus and lineStatusII summarize overall unit health and RF/line link condition, and eth1Link/eth2Link report up/down state of the unit's Ethernet ports. There is no indication of dependency on external standard MIBs beyond the base SNMPv2 SMI conventions used to build the enterprise tree. It is deployed by wireless operators and ISPs managing RACOM RAy3 microwave links for backhaul or point-to-point connectivity at outdoor telecom sites, where technicians often start with a RAY3-MIB download to load the definitions into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in RAY3-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Monitoring Examples

An operator polls systemStatus and lineStatusII on a RAy3 unit to detect a degraded or lost microwave link, cross-checking peerNumber and securePeerMode to confirm the unit is still paired with the correct remote station. A change in swVer or swVerRadio flags an unexpected firmware upgrade/downgrade, while eth1Link or eth2Link dropping to down reveals a cabling or switch-port fault on the Ethernet side feeding the radio.

How to Use in IPNetwork Monitor

Example using numDisconnect OID:

Select an RACOM RAy3 microwave point-to-point/point-to-multipoint radio link unit as the target host to create a monitor — the SNMP service should be up and running on it. Click New Monitor, then check SNMP Custom on the Favorites tab, click Next, and confirm the host. On the next page, click Select... to open the built-in SNMP MIB Browser and type numDisconnect into the Find box to locate it in the OID tree, then select it and click OK. It reports the number of drops (disconnecting). On the monitor's Main parameters page you can set the target's SNMP port (default 161), credentials, polling interval, and other settings — see the SNMP Monitor help for details. On the State conditions and Alerting tabs, configure when the monitor should change state and trigger an alert; since this is a Counter32-type OID, Value bounds is the most useful condition here — trigger an alert if the counter increases between polls, since a rising count of errors, failures, or discards often points to a real underlying problem. Click Finish to create the monitor; you can adjust any parameter later.
