rcnSlppPortDownEvent
Module: RAPID-CITY
OID (symbolic): RAPID-CITY::rcnSlppPortDownEvent
OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.2272.1.64.1.0.1
Node type: NOTIFICATION-TYPE
Description: A port down event that has occurred due to SLPP. The user is notified of the expected Vlan ID along with the Vlan ID and source MAC address of the packet coming in on the port identified. The first two objects can be used to lookup instance info for port id and vlan id.
What is rcnSlppPortDownEvent?
This notification is triggered when a port goes down due to Subscriber Link Fault Protection (SLPP), a feature that detects unidirectional link failures. The notification provides the expected VLAN ID along with the actual VLAN ID and source MAC address of the packet that triggered the detection. An operator would monitor this event to quickly identify which ports have experienced link faults and investigate connectivity issues in subscriber access networks.
Examples
Send this trap to an SNMP manager — replace <manager> with the IP or hostname of your monitoring server (SNMPv2c):
snmptrap -v2c -c public <manager> '' RAPID-CITY::rcnSlppPortDownEvent snmptrap -v2c -c public <manager> '' 1.3.6.1.4.1.2272.1.64.1.0.1
Listen for incoming traps on the manager host (-f keeps it in the foreground, -Lo prints to stdout — useful for testing):
snmptrapd -f -Lo -c /dev/null authCommunity log public
Example snmptrapd log entry:
