Module: RAPID-CITY

OID (symbolic): RAPID-CITY::rcnEmError

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.2272.1.21.0.23

Node type: NOTIFICATION-TYPE

Description:

A rcEmError trap signifies that the SNMPv2 entity, acting in an agent role, has detected Em error.

What is rcnEmError?

This notification alert signals that the SNMPv2 entity (network management agent) has detected an EM (Error Module or Electromechanical) error in the system. An EM error indicates a problem with hardware components or their control circuits. An operator receiving this alert should investigate the specific error details and potentially perform maintenance or replace faulty components.

Examples

Send this trap to an SNMP manager — replace <manager> with the IP or hostname of your monitoring server (SNMPv2c):

snmptrap -v2c -c public <manager> '' RAPID-CITY::rcnEmError
snmptrap -v2c -c public <manager> '' 1.3.6.1.4.1.2272.1.21.0.23

Listen for incoming traps on the manager host (-f keeps it in the foreground, -Lo prints to stdout — useful for testing):

snmptrapd -f -Lo -c /dev/null authCommunity log public

Example snmptrapd log entry:

zoo11-linux.zoo [UDP: [192.168.30.111]:58070->[192.168.30.10]:162]:
  DISMAN-EVENT-MIB::sysUpTimeInstance = Timeticks: (494155990) 57 days, 4:39:19.90
  SNMPv2-MIB::snmpTrapOID.0 = OID: RAPID-CITY::rcnEmError

SNMPv3 example:

snmptrap -v3 -l authPriv -u snmpv3user -a SHA -A "AuthPass1" -x AES -X "PrivPass1" <manager> '' RAPID-CITY::rcnEmError
