Module: RAPID-CITY

OID (symbolic): RAPID-CITY::rcnDNSRequestResponse

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.2272.1.21.0.62

Node type: NOTIFICATION-TYPE

Description:

A rcDnsRequestResponse trap signifies that the switch had sent a query to the DNS server or it had received a successful response from the DNS Server

What is rcnDNSRequestResponse?

This SNMP notification trap signals DNS query or response events on a Rapid City switch. It fires when the switch either sends a query to a DNS server or receives a successful response back. An operator would monitor this trap to detect DNS resolution failures or verify that name resolution services are functioning properly on the network device.

Examples

Send this trap to an SNMP manager — replace <manager> with the IP or hostname of your monitoring server (SNMPv2c):

snmptrap -v2c -c public <manager> '' RAPID-CITY::rcnDNSRequestResponse
snmptrap -v2c -c public <manager> '' 1.3.6.1.4.1.2272.1.21.0.62

Listen for incoming traps on the manager host (-f keeps it in the foreground, -Lo prints to stdout — useful for testing):

snmptrapd -f -Lo -c /dev/null authCommunity log public
