Module: RAPID-CITY
OID (symbolic): RAPID-CITY::rcnChasFanUp
OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.2272.1.21.0.21
Node type: NOTIFICATION-TYPE
Description:
A rcChasFanUp trap signifies that the SNMPv2 entity, acting in an agent role, has detected that the rcChasFanOperStatus object for one of its power supply unit is about to transition into the up state.
What is rcnChasFanUp?
This notification is sent when a fan unit in a network device chassis is about to transition to the operating (up) state after being down. The trap helps network administrators monitor chassis cooling system recovery by alerting them when a previously failed fan restarts, allowing them to verify full system health restoration.
Examples
Send this trap to an SNMP manager — replace <manager> with the IP or hostname of your monitoring server (SNMPv2c):
snmptrap -v2c -c public <manager> '' RAPID-CITY::rcnChasFanUp snmptrap -v2c -c public <manager> '' 1.3.6.1.4.1.2272.1.21.0.21
Listen for incoming traps on the manager host (-f keeps it in the foreground, -Lo prints to stdout — useful for testing):
snmptrapd -f -Lo -c /dev/null authCommunity log public
Example snmptrapd log entry:
