Module: RAPID-CITY
OID (symbolic): RAPID-CITY::rcnBfdSessExceedThreshold
OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.2272.1.21.0.183
Node type: NOTIFICATION-TYPE
Description:
A rcnBfdSessExceedThreshold signifies that the BFD session have exceed system limit and hence creation of new session failed.
What is rcnBfdSessExceedThreshold?
This SNMP notification (trap) is sent when the system reaches its limit for BFD (Bidirectional Forwarding Detection) sessions, indicating that a request to create a new session has failed. It alerts operators that the BFD session capacity has been exhausted and corrective action is needed. Network operators monitor this trap to manage overall system load and prevent session creation failures.
Examples
Send this trap to an SNMP manager — replace <manager> with the IP or hostname of your monitoring server (SNMPv2c):
snmptrap -v2c -c public <manager> '' RAPID-CITY::rcnBfdSessExceedThreshold snmptrap -v2c -c public <manager> '' 1.3.6.1.4.1.2272.1.21.0.183
Listen for incoming traps on the manager host (-f keeps it in the foreground, -Lo prints to stdout — useful for testing):
snmptrapd -f -Lo -c /dev/null authCommunity log public
