Description:
The default peer has two state: Configured and Operational. MSDP node only accept SA messages from the Operational default peer. These is only one default peer can become Operational, all the Configured default peers are for redundancy.
What is rcMsdpPeerDefaultPeerState?
This OID indicates whether the default multicast peer is operational or just configured on standby. An operational peer actively forwards multicast traffic, while configured peers wait as backup. Network operators check this to verify their multicast redundancy is working—if all peers show only 'configured', multicast traffic may fail.
