This object sets the DVMRP (Distance Vector Multicast Routing Protocol) cost or metric value assigned to a network interface for multicast route calculation. Lower values prefer routes through that interface in multicast path selection. Network designers set this to influence multicast traffic distribution toward better paths or backup links.
