Description:

A rcCardDown trap signifies that the SNMPv2 entity, acting in an agent role, has detected that the rcCardOperStatus object for one of its cards is about to transition into the down state.

What is rc2kCardDown?

This OID is a notification alert that fires when a hardware card in the switch is about to transition from operational to down state (failure). The alert is sent before the card actually fails, giving operators advance notice to prepare for service interruption. An operator would receive this warning and could take action like activating a redundant card or scheduled maintenance before the card completely fails.
