What Is RADLAN-SWPACKAGEVERSION-MIB?

RADLAN-SWPACKAGEVERSION-MIB is a Marvell/RADLAN private enterprise MIB used across the many OEM switch platforms built on the RADLAN switch software stack (widely licensed to vendors like Netgear, D-Link, and others). It defines a single-purpose software inventory table that tracks the names and version strings of installed software packages/firmware images on the switch. This makes it a direct software-status monitoring MIB: it lets an administrator confirm exactly which firmware/software package version is running on the device, which is essential for verifying successful upgrades and diagnosing feature or bug-fix discrepancies across a fleet of similar switches. It has no significant dependency on other MIBs beyond standard SNMPv2-SMI table conventions. It is deployed across the broad range of RADLAN-based OEM managed switches wherever centralized firmware-version auditing is needed. Engineers can download the RADLAN-SWPACKAGEVERSION-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in RADLAN-SWPACKAGEVERSION-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

What Can Be Monitored

  • installed software package name
  • installed software package version

Supported Devices

  • RADLAN-based OEM managed Ethernet switches (e.g., Netgear, D-Link)

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would walk the rlSwPackageVersionTable, reading rlSwPackageVersionName and rlSwPackageVersionVesrion (sic) for each entry to build an inventory of installed software package versions across a fleet of switches. A device reporting an older rlSwPackageVersionVesrion than its peers would flag a switch that missed a firmware upgrade cycle, which is a common trigger for compliance or security-patch audits.
