What Is RADLAN-MIR-MIB?
RADLAN-MIR-MIB is a private Marvell/Radlan switch MIB configuring port mirroring (SPAN-like) sessions used to duplicate traffic from one or more ports to a monitoring destination for analysis. It exposes configuration of mirror sessions, including which interfaces are mirrored to which session ID, plus VLAN-based reserved ports, alongside a current-versus-maximum session count that functions as a hardware capacity/resource-utilization indicator. Monitoring value centers on that capacity metric: rlMirCurMriNum approaching rlMirMaxNumOfMRIs reveals the switch is nearing its hardware limit for simultaneous mirror sessions, which would cause new mirroring requests to fail. It depends on IF-MIB ifIndex values for interface references and on the underlying switch ASIC's mirroring hardware capability. It is deployed by network and security teams capturing traffic for IDS sensors or packet-analysis appliances attached to mirror destination ports. Engineers can download the RADLAN-MIR-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in RADLAN-MIR-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
What Can Be Monitored
- configured mirror session count vs hardware maximum
- port-to-mirror-session mappings
- VLAN-based reserved mirror ports
- mirror session status per interface
Supported Devices
- Marvell/Radlan-based managed switch
Monitoring Examples
rlMirInterfaceTable/Entry, indexed by rlMirInterfaceIfIndex and rlMirInterfaceMrid, maps source ports to mirror session IDs, letting an admin verify a SPAN session is properly capturing traffic to an attached IDS sensor. rlMirCurMriNum climbing toward rlMirMaxNumOfMRIs (or rlMirMaxNumOfMRIsAfterReset) indicates the switch is approaching its hardware limit on simultaneous mirror sessions. rlMirVlanBaseReservedPortsTable additionally shows which ports are reserved from VLAN-based mirroring to protect trunk/uplink connectivity.
