Description: Configures SSL/TLS settings for secure HTTPS management access on Radlan switches.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is RADLAN-SSL?
RADLAN-SSL is a private enterprise MIB from Radlan (later part of Marvell), whose embedded switch-management software underlies many OEM managed Ethernet switches sold by other vendors. This module governs SSL/TLS certificate generation for securing the switch's HTTPS-based web management interface, exposing a certificate-generation table with fields such as country, state/province, locality, organization, organizational unit, common name, key validity period, and RSA key length. Its data is primarily configuration in nature rather than a live performance feed, but it does let an administrator confirm the software-security status of the device — specifically whether a valid, correctly-parameterized management certificate has been generated and what key strength is in force. It has no strong dependency on other MIBs beyond standard SNMPv2 table conventions. It is typically deployed on Radlan-derived managed switches (branded by vendors such as Netgear or D-Link) where secure web-based management access needs to be configured and audited, typically by opening the RADLAN-SSL MIB Browser view to inspect certificate objects directly.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in RADLAN-SSL. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Radlan-based managed Ethernet switch (OEM-branded, e.g. Netgear/D-Link switch families)
Monitoring Examples
An administrator would poll the rlSslCertificateGenerationTable/rlSslCertificateGenerationEntry, keyed by rlSslCertificateGenerationIndex or rlSslCertificateGenerationId, to check fields like rlSslCertificateGenerationCommonName, rlSslCertificateGenerationValidDays, and rlSslCertificateGenerationRsaKeyLength. An anomaly this would reveal is a certificate nearing its validity expiration (low remaining rlSslCertificateGenerationValidDays) or a weak rlSslCertificateGenerationRsaKeyLength that fails a security policy, prompting regeneration of the cert before HTTPS management access breaks or is flagged non-compliant.
What Can Be Monitored
- SSL certificate generation status
- certificate common name/organization fields
- certificate validity period (days remaining)
- RSA key length
