Description: Configures serial console port baud rate settings on Radlan switches.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is RADLAN-BaudRate-MIB?
RADLAN-BaudRate-MIB is a small Radlan vendor-specific MIB (module rlRs232, under the RADLAN-MIB rnd enterprise branch) that configures the serial console (RS-232) baud rate on switches built on Radlan's ROS reference switch software. It defines just three functional objects: rlRs232AutoBaudRateStatus (read-only current auto-baud state), rlRs232AutoBaudRateStatusAfterReset (read-write, the auto-baud behavior to apply after a reboot), and rlRs232BaudRate (read-write, an enumerated value from 2400 to 115200 baud), plus a version scalar. As a configuration-only MIB with no counters or tables, it is used to remotely set or verify console access parameters rather than for performance or fault monitoring. It has no external MIB dependencies beyond SNMPv2-SMI. It is deployed on Radlan ROS-based switches — a switch operating system historically licensed to multiple OEM Ethernet switch vendors — and the RADLAN-BaudRate-MIB MIB is what an administrator would load to manage console baud rate settings remotely.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in RADLAN-BaudRate-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Radlan ROS-based switches (RADLAN reference switch OS licensed to multiple OEM switch vendors)
Monitoring Examples
An operator reads rlRs232AutoBaudRateStatus and rlRs232BaudRate before dispatching a technician with a serial cable; a mismatch between the reported baud rate and the terminal emulator's configured speed would explain garbled console output during an on-site troubleshooting session.
What Can Be Monitored
- MIB version scalar
- auto-baud-rate status (current and post-reset)
- configured console baud rate value
