Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is CISCOSB-1-BONJOUR-SERVICE-MIB?

CISCOSB-1-BONJOUR-SERVICE-MIB is a Cisco Small Business (formerly Linksys/rlCustom-derived) switch MIB that manages Bonjour zero-configuration service discovery advertisements on the device. It exposes configuration-oriented data describing which Bonjour service types the switch advertises, on what port, and whether each advertisement is enabled. Rather than hardware health, this module is primarily useful for monitoring software-level service configuration status -- confirming that expected Bonjour services are enabled and correctly published so that network discovery tools can find the switch. It is a Cisco Small Business private-enterprise extension and depends on the switch's underlying Bonjour/mDNS service implementation rather than any IETF standard MIB. It is deployed in small-business and SMB network environments where Cisco SB switches use Bonjour for simplified device and service discovery. Engineers can download the CISCOSB-1-BONJOUR-SERVICE-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCOSB-1-BONJOUR-SERVICE-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Cisco Small Business switch

Monitoring Examples

An administrator could walk rlCustom1BonjourServiceTable and its rlCustom1BonjourServiceEntry rows to see each rlCustom1BonjourServiceTypeName alongside its rlCustom1BonjourServicePort, rlCustom1BonjourServiceEnable flag, and rlCustom1BonjourServiceOptions string. If rlCustom1BonjourServiceStatus shows a service as disabled or the port value is unexpectedly zero, that reveals a misconfigured or unintentionally disabled discovery advertisement. This is a configuration-status check rather than a performance metric, useful when troubleshooting why a Bonjour-discoverable service is not appearing on the network.

What Can Be Monitored

  • Bonjour service type name
  • advertised service port
  • service enable/disable state
  • service advertisement status
  • service options string
