Category: DHCP

Description: Configures DHCP snooping to prevent rogue DHCP servers on untrusted switch ports.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is RADLAN-DhcpSpoofing-MIB?

RADLAN-DhcpSpoofing-MIB is a private Radlan/Marvell MIB module implementing DHCP snooping (referred to as DHCP spoofing protection) to guard switch ports against rogue DHCP servers. It exposes configuration objects for enabling the feature globally and per-VLAN, along with trusted/untrusted port designation. This is primarily a security-configuration MIB rather than a hardware/software health monitor, though the enable/disable status objects do reflect whether the protective software feature is currently active on the device. It is a vendor-specific security extension with no dependency on a broader standards-track DHCP snooping MIB. It is typically deployed on access-layer switches in networks where DHCP server spoofing or rogue DHCP is a security concern. Engineers can download the RADLAN-DhcpSpoofing-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in RADLAN-DhcpSpoofing-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Radlan/Marvell-based managed switches

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would check rlDhcpSpoofingEnabled to confirm the feature is globally active, then inspect rlDhcpSpoofingVlanTable entries to see which VLANs have snooping enforced. The rlDhcpSpoofingServerPorts object identifies which physical ports are permitted to act as legitimate DHCP servers; any DHCP server traffic seen on a port not in this list would be blocked, and unexpected drops here could indicate a rogue device attempting to hand out addresses.

What Can Be Monitored

  • global DHCP snooping enable state
  • per-VLAN snooping status
  • trusted DHCP server ports
  • rogue server blocking configuration
