Description: Manages BATM Advanced Communication Layer Management Module (LMM) control plane configuration and protocol state.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is PRVT-LMM-MIB?

PRVT-LMM-MIB is a vendor MIB from BATM Advanced Communication for laser monitoring on optical transceivers/modules, part of a Layer Management Module control function. It exposes threshold configuration for optical transmit/receive power and temperature, along with logging, LED, and debug controls. This is a clear hardware health monitoring MIB: it lets an operator set and check high/low thresholds for transceiver temperature and Tx/Rx optical power, catching a failing or degrading optical module before it causes a link outage. It is a proprietary, hardware-specific module tied to optical transceiver diagnostics (similar in spirit to standard DOM/SFF transceiver monitoring conventions) without a formal standard MIB dependency evident here. It is deployed on BATM Advanced Communication optical networking equipment using pluggable optical transceivers requiring laser/power monitoring. Engineers can download the PRVT-LMM-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in PRVT-LMM-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • BATM Advanced Communication optical transceiver/networking equipment

Monitoring Examples

An admin would poll against prvtLmmTemperatureHighThreshold/prvtLmmTemperatureLowThreshold and prvtLmmRxPowerLowThreshold/prvtLmmTxPowerLowThreshold to see whether a transceiver's current readings are approaching configured limits. If prvtLmmTrap fires because RX power drops below prvtLmmRxPowerLowThreshold, that signals a degrading fiber connection or failing optical module. The prvtLmmLog and prvtLmmLed objects help correlate logged threshold-crossing events with a visible hardware indicator on the chassis.

What Can Be Monitored

  • transceiver temperature vs thresholds
  • Rx optical power level
  • Tx optical power level
  • laser monitoring trap/log events
