prtExPVc4DynamicJitter

Module: RAD-MIB

OID (symbolic): RAD-MIB::prtExPVc4DynamicJitter

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.164.3.2.3.2.9.1.1.37

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: The MVC8 uses two mechanisms to overcome the network delay. The first one is a static jitter buffer which holds a constant buffer of up to 300 Msec and can be controled by the JITTER parameter (prtExPVc4VarDelay). The second one is the dynamic jitter which calculates, in real time, the network delay and handles a jitter buffer dynamically. The dynamic mechanism that is implemented in MVC8, was intended to overcome network delay yet when the network bursts, the MVC8 dynamic mechanism is not able to overcome the delay. Therefore it is better not to use the dynamic jitter (DISABLE - should be the default) where bursts may occur often.

What is prtExPVc4DynamicJitter?

This read-write object configures the dynamic jitter buffer mechanism on a RAD MVC8 device, which calculates network delay in real time to adaptively handle packet timing variations. An operator enables or adjusts this setting to optimize voice quality when static jitter buffer settings are insufficient.
