OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.164.6.1.12.0.41
Node type: NOTIFICATION-TYPE
Description:
This trap indicates AIS Reception on a VP Connection.
What is atmAceAlarmVpAISReception?
This notification trap is sent when the device receives an ATM Alarm Indication Signal (AIS) on a Virtual Path (VP) connection, indicating a fault condition in the upstream network. It alerts the monitoring system that the VP is experiencing a loss-of-signal or service degradation condition on the incoming side. Network operators respond to this trap by investigating the upstream link and initiating failover procedures if alternative paths are available.
Examples
Send this trap to an SNMP manager — replace <manager> with the IP or hostname of your monitoring server (SNMPv2c):
snmptrap -v2c -c public <manager> '' RAD-MIB::atmAceAlarmVpAISReception snmptrap -v2c -c public <manager> '' 1.3.6.1.4.1.164.6.1.12.0.41
Listen for incoming traps on the manager host (-f keeps it in the foreground, -Lo prints to stdout — useful for testing):
snmptrapd -f -Lo -c /dev/null authCommunity log public
