alarmAIS
Module: RAD-MIB
OID (symbolic): RAD-MIB::alarmAIS
OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.164.6.1.3.0.10
Node type: NOTIFICATION-TYPE
Description:
This trap indicates AIS.
What is alarmAIS?
This OID triggers an alarm notification when the device detects an AIS (Alarm Indication Signal) condition on a transmission line. Receiving this alert tells you that a telecom link has lost signal or synchronization and is sending alarm signals upstream. A telecom operator monitoring a RAD device would receive this trap when a long-distance link fails, prompting immediate investigation.
Examples
Send this trap to an SNMP manager — replace <manager> with the IP or hostname of your monitoring server (SNMPv2c):
snmptrap -v2c -c public <manager> '' RAD-MIB::alarmAIS snmptrap -v2c -c public <manager> '' 1.3.6.1.4.1.164.6.1.3.0.10
Listen for incoming traps on the manager host (-f keeps it in the foreground, -Lo prints to stdout — useful for testing):
snmptrapd -f -Lo -c /dev/null authCommunity log public
Example snmptrapd log entry:
zoo11-linux.zoo [UDP: [192.168.30.111]:54164->[192.168.30.10]:162]: DISMAN-EVENT-MIB::sysUpTimeInstance = Timeticks: (411663764) 47 days, 15:30:37.64 SNMPv2-MIB::snmpTrapOID.0 = OID: RAD-MIB::alarmAIS
