What Is PSA-WinEmulexTrap-MIB?
PSA-WinEmulexTrap-MIB is a NEC ESMPRO ServerAgent proprietary MIB defining SNMP trap notifications for Emulex Fibre Channel Host Bus Adapter (HBA) driver fault events on Windows-based NEC servers. It is a fault/trap-oriented MIB, exposing objects that accompany trap notifications such as event severity level, event ID, unit name, and server hardware identification (model, part number, serial number, stepping). Its entire purpose is monitoring hardware fault status of the Fibre Channel HBA and its host server — trapEventLevel and trapEventId identify the nature/severity of a driver fault, trapSuspect flags the suspected failing component, and trapModelNo/trapSerialNo/trapPartNo identify exactly which physical server chassis raised the alert. It is a vendor-specific trap MIB tied to the NEC ESMPRO ServerAgent monitoring framework rather than depending on standard IETF MIBs. It is deployed on NEC Windows servers equipped with Emulex Fibre Channel HBAs, feeding fault events into ESMPRO server management consoles. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the PSA-WinEmulexTrap-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in PSA-WinEmulexTrap-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Fujitsu PRIMEQUEST server partition, Windows, Emulex Fibre Channel HBA (driver fault traps)
Monitoring Examples
When an Emulex HBA driver detects a fault, the agent sends a trap carrying trapEventLevel and trapEventId identifying the severity and specific fault condition, along with trapUnitName, trapModelNo, and trapSerialNo to identify the affected server chassis. An operator monitoring trapSuspect can determine which component (e.g., the HBA card itself) is implicated, and trapPartitionName/trapPartitionId help pinpoint the affected logical partition on multi-partition NEC server hardware.
What Can Be Monitored
- Emulex HBA driver fault events
- event severity level
- event ID
- suspected failing component
- affected server model/serial number
- affected partition identity
