Category: System Management, Vendor SMI and Registration
Description: Defines BATM Advanced Communication vendor-specific textual conventions, base OID structure, and enterprise MIB registration.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is PRVT-VENDORDEF-MIB?
PRVT-VENDORDEF-MIB is a BATM Advanced Communications foundational private MIB that defines vendor-specific textual conventions, the enterprise OID base, and MIB registration structure used by all of the vendor's other PRVT-* MIB modules. It contains no runtime managed objects of its own — instead it establishes the naming and OID hierarchy that other BATM MIBs (such as PRVT-OSPF-MIB, PRVT-HQOS-MIB, PRVT-RAPS-SVC-MIB) build upon. Because it defines only conventions and OID structure rather than instrumented data, it has no direct monitoring role for hardware or software status; its purpose is purely structural. Nearly every other PRVT-* MIB in the BATM Advanced Communications product family depends on this module for its base OID registration. It is loaded as a prerequisite alongside any other BATM Advanced Communications private MIB when compiling or managing their Carrier Ethernet switch product line. Engineers can download the PRVT-VENDORDEF-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in PRVT-VENDORDEF-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- BATM Advanced Communications Carrier Ethernet switches (indirectly, via dependent MIBs)
Monitoring Examples
Since sample_objects is empty and this is a vendor-definition/textual-conventions module, PRVT-VENDORDEF-MIB does not expose any pollable runtime objects itself — it only supplies the enterprise OID base and shared conventions that other PRVT-* MIB modules reference in their own object definitions.
