Category: Protection and Redundancy

Description: Manages BATM Advanced Communication system redundancy configuration including active/standby switchover and failover policies.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is PRVT-REDUNDANCY-MIB?

PRVT-REDUNDANCY-MIB is a BATM Advanced Communication proprietary MIB for managing system redundancy in modular chassis equipment, covering active/standby switchover and failover policy configuration. It exposes hardware-inventory and status data organized around chassis slots, including the type of line interface card (LIC) installed and its operational/redundancy status. Its explicit purpose is hardware health and availability monitoring -- an operator uses it to confirm which slot is active versus standby, detect an unexpected failover, and verify that redundancy protection is functioning as configured across chassis components. It is a vendor-specific module without a stated dependency on external standard MIBs, though it follows common chassis/slot indexing conventions used elsewhere in BATM's MIB family. It is deployed on BATM modular chassis platforms (e.g. carrier access/aggregation nodes) where high availability via redundant control or line cards is required. Engineers can download the PRVT-REDUNDANCY-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in PRVT-REDUNDANCY-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • BATM Advanced Communication modular chassis platforms

Monitoring Examples

An operator would poll prvtRedundancyChassisTable entries keyed by prvtRedundancyChassisSlotId, reading prvtRedundancyChassisLICType and prvtRedundancyChassisStatus to confirm which slot currently holds the active card and which is standby. A prvtRedundancyChassisEntryStatus transition or an unexpected prvtRedundancyChassisStatus change would indicate a failover event, triggering a prvtRedundancyNotifications trap. Comparing chassis slot status across a pair of redundant cards over time would reveal flapping failovers pointing to a failing card.

What Can Be Monitored

  • active/standby slot status
  • line interface card (LIC) type
  • chassis redundancy status
  • failover/switchover events
