What Is PRVT-NETWORK-LOOPBACK-TEST-MIB?
PRVT-NETWORK-LOOPBACK-TEST-MIB is a BATM Advanced Communication (Telco Systems) private MIB that manages an embedded network loopback testing feature used for link troubleshooting, diagnostics, and measurement on switch interfaces. Its prvtNetworkLoopbackTestTable, indexed by ifIndex and an access-list control-list group from PRVT-SWITCH-ACCESS-LIST-MIB, defines prvtNetworkLoopTestDuration (0 for an infinite test), start/end timestamps (prvtNetworkLoopStartDuration, prvtNetworkLoopEndDuration), and prvtNetworkLoopRowStatus to activate the test via createAndGo or createAndWait. A single notification, prvtNetworkLoopbackTestFinish, fires when a test completes, referencing the same ifIndex and access-list group that identified it. It depends on IF-MIB for interface indexing and PRVT-SWITCH-ACCESS-LIST-MIB/PRVT-SWITCH-MIB for its access-list grouping and registration point, and is deployed on BATM/Telco Systems switching equipment used for in-service link diagnostics, and administrators can download the PRVT-NETWORK-LOOPBACK-TEST-MIB file to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in PRVT-NETWORK-LOOPBACK-TEST-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- BATM Advanced Communication / Telco Systems switching equipment
Monitoring Examples
An operator sets prvtNetworkLoopRowStatus to createAndGo with prvtNetworkLoopTestDuration set to a fixed interval to run a timed loopback test on a suspect interface, then polls prvtNetworkLoopEndDuration and waits for prvtNetworkLoopbackTestFinish; a test that never reaches the expected end time or fails to generate the finish notification would indicate the loopback could not be established on that ifIndex, suggesting a cabling or interface fault.
What Can Be Monitored
- loopback test duration configuration
- loopback test start/end timestamps
- loopback test row status (active/pending)
- loopback test completion notifications
