Description: Manages BATM Advanced Communication MPLS-enabled interface configuration, label space, and per-interface MPLS state.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is PRVT-MPLS-IF-MIB?
PRVT-MPLS-IF-MIB is a BATM Advanced Communications proprietary MIB that configures MPLS- and RSVP-enabled interface parameters on their Carrier Ethernet switch products, including per-interface MPLS routing protocol and address associations. It exposes route protocol and route address tables tied to MPLS-enabled interfaces, letting operators see which routing protocol and address bindings are associated with a given MPLS interface. This supports monitoring of MPLS interface configuration correctness and label-space/protocol state, which is useful for diagnosing MPLS forwarding or RSVP signaling problems at the interface level. It likely complements standard MPLS and RSVP-TE MIBs (e.g., MPLS-LSR-MIB) for full label-switching visibility, though it is a vendor-private extension rather than a full replacement. It is deployed on BATM Advanced Communications MPLS-capable Carrier Ethernet switches in provider aggregation and backbone networks, where PRVT-MPLS-IF-MIB SNMP monitoring helps diagnose MPLS forwarding or RSVP signaling problems at the interface level.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in PRVT-MPLS-IF-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- BATM Advanced Communications MPLS-capable Carrier Ethernet switches
Monitoring Examples
An operator can poll prvtMplsRouteProtocolTable via prvtMplsRouteProtocolEntry to confirm which routing protocol is bound to a given MPLS-enabled interface, and cross-reference prvtMplsRouteAddressTable/prvtMplsRouteAddressEntry to verify the correct IP address is associated with that interface's MPLS routing context. A mismatch between expected and actual protocol bindings here would point to a misconfigured MPLS interface preventing proper label distribution.
What Can Be Monitored
- MPLS interface routing protocol binding
- MPLS interface address association
- per-interface MPLS/RSVP configuration state
