Description: Manages BATM Advanced Communication event propagation rules that map fault events to downstream interface actions.

What Is PRVT-EVENT-PROPAGATION-MIB?
PRVT-EVENT-PROPAGATION-MIB is a proprietary BATM Advanced Communication MIB that implements an Event Propagation feature, letting the switch automatically map detected fault or state-change events (from sources such as remote/local Maintenance End Points or VRRP groups) to defined downstream actions on interfaces. It centers on configuration of propagation profiles: which source event triggers a reaction, what action is taken, whether the action reverses when the condition clears, and timers such as a wait-to-restore delay. This MIB is fundamentally about automating fault/status handling in software — it does not expose hardware sensors itself but governs how the device reacts to fault conditions detected elsewhere (e.g., link/CFM/VRRP failures), making it valuable for confirming that failover or alarm-forwarding automation is correctly configured. It has an implicit dependency on CFM (MEP) and VRRP-related state, since its trigger sources are remote/local MEPs and VRRP groups defined by other features on the same platform. It is deployed on BATM carrier Ethernet switches where automated fault-reaction behavior (e.g., shutting down a customer-facing port when an uplink fails) is required. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the PRVT-EVENT-PROPAGATION-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in PRVT-EVENT-PROPAGATION-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- BATM Advanced Communication carrier Ethernet switch
Monitoring Examples
An operator would review prvtEventPropagationProfileTable to see configured profiles, checking prvtEventPropagationSourceRemMep or prvtEventPropagationSourceVrrpGroup to identify which upstream condition each profile watches, and prvtEventPropagationAction to see what response fires when prvtEventPropagationEvent occurs. prvtEventPropagationTimerWaitToRestore reveals how long the switch waits before reversing an action once the triggering condition clears, important for validating anti-flapping behavior. Monitoring prvtEventPropagationReverse and profile RowStatus helps confirm a profile is active as intended rather than left in a notReady state.
What Can Be Monitored
- event propagation profile configuration
- trigger source (remote/local MEP, VRRP group)
- propagation action taken
- wait-to-restore timer
- propagation threshold
- profile row status
