Description: Clock source for the DS1 port
'loopTiming' indicates that the recovered re- ceive clock is used as the transmit clock.
'localTiming' indicates that a local clock source is used or when an external clock is attached to the box containing the interface.
'throughTiming' indicates that recovered re- ceive clock from another interface is used as the transmit clock.
What is tdmIoDS1PortTiming?
This selects the clock source for a DS1 port: loopTiming derives the transmit clock from the recovered receive clock, localTiming uses a local or externally attached clock source, and throughTiming derives the transmit clock from another interface's recovered receive clock. Getting timing configuration right across a TDM network is critical, since clock mismatches cause slips and errored seconds. An admin would set one DS1 port to localTiming as the timing master and others to loopTiming or throughTiming to follow that reference.
Examples
Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.5812.3.4.1.2 snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> PORT-MIB::tdmIoDS1PortTiming
Get a specific instance (index 1):
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.5812.3.4.1.2.1 snmpget -v2c -c public <target> PORT-MIB::tdmIoDS1PortTiming.1
Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):
snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.5812.3.4.1.2.1 i <value>
SNMPv3 example:
snmpget -v3 -l authPriv -u snmpv3-user -a SHA -A "AuthPassword1" -x AES -X "PrivPassword1" <target> tdmIoDS1PortTiming.1
