Description: The type of Zero Code Suppression used on this interface.

B8ZS refers to the use of a specified pattern of normal bits and bipolar violations which are used to replace a sequence of eight zero bits.

AMI refers to a mode wherein no zero code suppression is present and the line encoding does not solve the problem directly. In this application, the higher layer must provide data which meets or exceeds the pulse density requirements, such as inverting HDLC data.

What is tdmIoDS1PortCoding?

This sets the DS1 line coding scheme: B8ZS, which replaces runs of eight zero bits with a specific bit pattern containing intentional bipolar violations to maintain pulse density, or AMI, which provides no such substitution and instead relies on the connected equipment to guarantee sufficient ones density, for example by inverting HDLC data. An admin must match this setting to whatever the far-end DS1 equipment expects, since a coding mismatch will cause the receiving side to misinterpret the bit stream. Most modern DS1 circuits use B8ZS, with AMI reserved for older or specific legacy equipment.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.5812.3.4.1.7
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> PORT-MIB::tdmIoDS1PortCoding

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.5812.3.4.1.7.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> PORT-MIB::tdmIoDS1PortCoding.1

Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):

snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.5812.3.4.1.7.1 i <value>
