etherPortStatsTxOversize

Module: PORT-MIB

OID (symbolic): PORT-MIB::etherPortStatsTxOversize

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.5812.3.3.1.14

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Counter

Access: read-only

Description: Number of frames transmitted greater than 1518 bytes.

What is etherPortStatsTxOversize?

This counts frames transmitted on the port that were larger than 1518 bytes, the standard Ethernet maximum. An admin watching this counter increase unexpectedly would suspect a misconfigured jumbo-frame or VLAN-tagging setup pushing frames past the expected size limit. A steady non-zero rate here on a link that should carry only standard frames is worth investigating.
