Module: PORT-MIB

OID (symbolic): PORT-MIB::etherPortStatsTxBadFifoUnderrun

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.5812.3.3.1.17

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Counter

Access: read-only

Description: Number of bad frames (due to Transmit FIFO underrun) transmitted.

What is etherPortStatsTxBadFifoUnderrun?

This counts frames transmitted with errors caused by a Transmit FIFO underrun, meaning the hardware's output buffer ran dry mid-frame before all data was ready. An admin sees this rise when the port's transmit path can't keep data flowing fast enough, often pointing to a hardware or bus-bandwidth issue on that card. Persistent underrun errors on a specific port are a strong hint to check that card's health rather than the cabling.

Examples
