OID (symbolic): PORT-MIB::etherPortRxOverrun

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE
Type: Counter
Access: read-only
Description: The total number of packets dropped by the GMAC due to the occurence of a receive overrun (gig only- supported by GMAC-D2 and later)
What is etherPortRxOverrun?
This counts packets dropped by the Gigabit MAC due to a receive overrun, and the description notes it's only supported on GMAC-D2 hardware and later, gigabit-only. A rising count here means the receive path couldn't keep up with incoming data and packets were lost before processing. An admin seeing this climb on a gigabit port would investigate whether the port is oversubscribed or the receiving hardware is under strain.
