This sets the Cell Delay Variation Tolerance for the port, measured in units related to cell time, with a default around 50,000 representing roughly 0.7 percent of the OC12c line rate, equivalent to about 7 to 141 cell times across its 5,000-to-100,000 allowed range. CDVT determines how much jitter in cell arrival timing the port will tolerate before flagging cells as nonconforming for traffic policing purposes. An admin would tighten this value to enforce stricter traffic conformance, or loosen it if legitimate bursty traffic is being incorrectly penalized.
