What Is PDN-RADIUS-MIB?

PDN-RADIUS-MIB is a Paradyne (PDN) enterprise MIB that manages RADIUS client configuration and authentication/accounting behavior on Paradyne network access equipment. It exposes configuration objects for enabling RADIUS authentication, timeout and retry attempts, and a server table listing RADIUS server addresses, ports, and shared secrets, plus related trap definitions. Its monitoring relevance is centered on software/service status rather than hardware sensors: confirming RADIUS authentication is enabled and correctly pointed at reachable servers, and watching for authentication failures or timeouts that would indicate a misconfigured secret or an unreachable AAA server. It builds on the general concept of the IETF RADIUS client MIB conventions, though it is a vendor-specific reimplementation rather than a direct RFC 2618 compliance module. It is typically deployed on Paradyne DSL/access multiplexer equipment that authenticates management or subscriber sessions via RADIUS, and the PDN-RADIUS-MIB download lets administrators load it directly into their MIB browser.

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would check sysDevRadiusAuthEnable and sysDevRadiusAuthTimeout/sysDevRadiusAuthAttempts to confirm RADIUS auth is active with sane retry behavior, then walk sysDevRadiusAuthConfigTable/sysDevRadiusAuthConfigEntry (indexed by sysDevRadiusAuthServerIndex) to verify sysDevRadiusAuthServerAddress and sysDevRadiusAuthServerPort point to a live RADIUS server. Repeated authentication traps from sysDevRadiusMIBTraps alongside timeouts would indicate the sysDevRadiusAuthSecret is mismatched or the RADIUS server is down.
