What Is PBI-4000P-5000P-MIB?

PBI-4000P-5000P-MIB is a vendor-specific MIB for PBI (China)'s 4000P/5000P series broadcast integrated receiver-decoder (IRD) appliances, which receive satellite, cable, or terrestrial signals and output decoded video/audio over ASI, SDI, and Ethernet interfaces. It is intended to expose tuner input configuration/status and output port configuration for these broadcast decoders. Its monitoring role would cover device operational status such as tuner lock/signal state, output port status, and possibly general device health (power, temperature) typical of broadcast headend equipment, though no specific object names were captured in this extract to confirm exact coverage. It is likely a self-contained vendor module with limited dependency on standard IETF MIBs beyond basic SNMP conventions. It is deployed in broadcast headends and cable/satellite/terrestrial signal distribution facilities using PBI 4000P/5000P decoders, where PBI-4000P-5000P-MIB SNMP monitoring would be expected to track tuner lock and output status.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in PBI-4000P-5000P-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • PBI 4000P/5000P broadcast IRD/decoder appliance

Monitoring Examples

No object names were provided in this extract, so a specific monitoring scenario cannot be grounded in real object names for this module; broadcast IRD/decoder MIBs of this kind are typically polled for tuner lock/signal status and output port state to detect a lost input signal or failed output. Because sample_objects is empty, further technical detail would require reviewing the MIB source directly.

What Can Be Monitored

  • tuner input signal/lock status
  • output port (ASI/SDI/Ethernet) status
  • device configuration

How to Use in IPNetwork Monitor

Example using tunerLock OID:

Select a PBI 4000P/5000P broadcast IRD/decoder appliance as the target host to create a monitor — the SNMP service should be up and running on it. Click New Monitor, then check SNMP Custom on the Favorites tab, click Next, and confirm the host. On the next page, click Select... to open the built-in SNMP MIB Browser and type tunerLock into the Find box to locate it in the OID tree, then select it and click OK. It reports tuner Lock? yes: 1,no: 0. On the monitor's Main parameters page you can set the target's SNMP port (default 161), credentials, polling interval, and other settings — see the SNMP Monitor help for details. On the State conditions and Alerting tabs, configure when the monitor should change state and trigger an alert; since this is an INTEGER-type OID, Value bounds is the most useful condition here — trigger an alert if the value is anything other than '1 (locked)', since that indicates the condition this object reports has changed to one worth investigating. Click Finish to create the monitor; you can adjust any parameter later.
