Description:
Defines the top-level OID hierarchy and product registration objects for PBI Professional Broadcast media gateway equipment.
What Is PBI-MAIN-MIB?
PBI-MAIN-MIB is the top-level enterprise OID registration module for PBI's Professional Broadcast media gateway equipment, and its own description states it exists mainly to support the standard MIB-II system group rather than to define product-specific data objects. It has no data tables of its own; it defines the OID branch structure used to register PBI product identities. As such it carries no direct hardware/software monitoring objects itself, but it underpins standard MIB-II usage where a device's sysObjectID points into this tree while sysUpTime and sysDescr from the standard system group provide basic uptime and identification. Because a PBI-MAIN-MIB download yields only this OID registration structure and no data tables, most of the practical monitoring value comes from the standard MIB-II objects it supports rather than from the module itself. Its explicit dependency is on the standard MIB-II/SNMPv2-MIB system group (RFC 1213/3418) for that basic identification and uptime reporting. It is deployed as the root registration point wherever PBI broadcast media gateway devices are managed via SNMP.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in PBI-MAIN-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- PBI (Professional Broadcast) media gateway equipment
Monitoring Examples
No object or table names were provided for this module because, per its own description, it exists to support the MIB-II system group rather than to define runtime data objects. In practice, a PBI device's status would be checked via the standard system group (sysDescr, sysUpTime, sysObjectID) rather than through any objects defined directly in this registration module.
