Organization: Delta Energy Systems (Switzerland) AG
Last Updated: 2012--0-4-
Category: UPS/Power
Description: Provides base SNMP management objects for Delta Energy Systems Orion UPS monitoring and control.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is ORION-BASE-MIB?
ORION-BASE-MIB (despite the short_desc mentioning UPS, the module description indicates this is actually a DC power system MIB for a PSC 3-based controller, likely from Delta or a related DC power vendor) provides base management objects for a DC power/energy system used to supply telecom or data center equipment. It exposes site and system identity information, software version, a real-time system clock, and both urgent and non-urgent alarm counts along with indexed alarm identifier/name/value tables. Its monitoring value is squarely in fault and hardware status: operators can watch for a mains failure alarm, track counts of urgent versus non-urgent alarms, and drill into specific alarm identifiers and their current values to diagnose power system problems before they cause an outage. It also reports dcSoftwareVersion, letting operators confirm the controller firmware version is current. It is typically deployed at telecom sites, cabinets, or data centers using DC power plants for critical equipment power. Engineers can download the ORION-BASE-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ORION-BASE-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- DC power system controller (PSC 3-based)
- telecom/data center power plant
Monitoring Examples
An administrator would poll dcNumberUrgentAlarms and dcNumberNonUrgentAlarms for a quick health summary, then check dcMainsFailureAlarm to see if grid power has been lost. Walking the urgent alarm table by dcUrgentAlarmIdentifier and dcUrgentAlarmName while reading dcUrgentAlarmValue reveals exactly which condition (e.g., a specific rectifier or battery fault) is active. Checking dcSoftwareVersion alongside dcSystemDateTime confirms the controller's firmware and clock are correct, which matters for accurate alarm timestamping.
What Can Be Monitored
- urgent alarm count
- non-urgent alarm count
- mains failure alarm state
- specific alarm identifier and value
- system software version
- system date/time

| I32 dcUaMax | 1.3.6.1.4.1.20246.2.3.1.1.1.2.5.6.1 | Integer32 | read-write | If the system voltage is outside the range specified by the values UaMin (lower alarm voltage)/UaMax (upper alarm voltage), the system event 'S Ua low'/'S Ua high' is activated. The values for the parameters UaMin and UaMax are not temperature compensated. |
| I32 dcUaMin | 1.3.6.1.4.1.20246.2.3.1.1.1.2.5.6.2 | Integer32 | read-write | For details see dcUaMax. |
| G32 dcUrgentAlarmIdentifier | 1.3.6.1.4.1.20246.2.3.1.1.1.2.2.6 | Gauge32 | read-only | Current unique urgent alarm event identifier. A zero value indicates that urgent alarm is not active. |
| STR dcUrgentAlarmName | 1.3.6.1.4.1.20246.2.3.1.1.1.2.2.10 | DisplayString | read-only | Current alarm name for urgent alarm that corresponds to urgent alarm identifier. |
| INT dcUrgentAlarmValue | 1.3.6.1.4.1.20246.2.3.1.1.1.2.2.7 | INTEGER | read-only | Current urgent alarm event status that corresponds to the urgent alarm identifier. If the urgent alarm identifier is zero then the alarm value is false. |
| I32 dcUsMax | 1.3.6.1.4.1.20246.2.3.1.1.1.2.5.6.3 | Integer32 | read-write | If the voltage is outside the range defined by the parameters UsMin (lower safety voltage)/UsMax (upper safety voltage), the system event 'S Us low'/'S Us high' is activated. If temperature compensation is enabled, the levels for Us min and / Us max are automatically temperature compensated to correspond to the required system voltage. The parameters are defined at 20C. |
| I32 dcUsMin | 1.3.6.1.4.1.20246.2.3.1.1.1.2.5.6.4 | Integer32 | read-write | For details see dcUsMax. |
| I32 dcUsys20 | 1.3.6.1.4.1.20246.2.3.1.1.1.2.5.1.1 | Integer32 | read-write | Voltage to regulate to at 20C. If temperature compensation is used, this voltage will vary. |
