What Is PACKETPOWER-EG4-MIB?
PACKETPOWER-EG4-MIB is a vendor-specific SNMP module for PacketPower EG4-series energy/environmental monitoring units, devices typically installed in data center racks or power distribution units to track electrical load. It exposes time-stamped readings across all monitored channels of a node, covering power consumption, outlet-level status, and ambient environmental sensor data. Its monitoring purpose is almost entirely hardware-facing: it reports real-time power draw per outlet/channel and environmental conditions such as temperature or humidity around the monitored equipment, enabling detection of overload conditions, outlet failures, or environmental excursions in the data center. As a dedicated power-monitoring appliance MIB it has no strong dependency on other vendor MIBs beyond standard SNMP conventions. It is typically deployed on rack power strips or branch-circuit monitors in colocation and enterprise data centers for capacity planning and environmental compliance. Engineers can download the PACKETPOWER-EG4-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in PACKETPOWER-EG4-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- PacketPower EG4 power/environmental monitoring unit
- data center rack PDU sensor node
Monitoring Examples
No object/table names were available in the sample data beyond the module's stated purpose, so a specific object-level scenario cannot be grounded precisely; conceptually, an administrator would poll the per-channel, time-stamped reading table described in the module to trend power draw on each monitored outlet and flag a channel whose reading exceeds its rated capacity, indicating an at-risk circuit.
