Description: Provides SNMP management objects for Power-over-Ethernet capabilities on Omnitron Systems media converter devices.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is OMNITRON-POE-MIB?

OMNITRON-POE-MIB is a proprietary MIB from Omnitron Systems Technology for managing Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) capability on its iConverter media converter product line, used together with the iConverter Management Modules and NetOutlook management software. It exposes both global PoE configuration (total power budget, power-limitation enable) and per-port configuration and status, including PSE enable/60W-mode/PD-mode settings, voltage and current supplied per port, PSE operational status, and heartbeat monitoring enable. Its central monitoring value is power-subsystem health at the port level: the PSE status and voltage/current-supplied objects reveal whether a given port is successfully delivering power to a connected powered device, over-budget, or in a fault state, making it directly useful for detecting PoE power delivery failures. It is a self-contained vendor MIB with no strong formal dependency on other standard MIBs beyond typical IF-MIB port indexing conventions. It is typically deployed in enterprise and carrier access networks using Omnitron iConverter media converters to deliver PoE to remote endpoints such as cameras or access points. Engineers can download the OMNITRON-POE-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in OMNITRON-POE-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Omnitron iConverter media converters with PoE modules

Monitoring Examples

An admin would poll ostPoePortCfgTable/ostPoePortCfgEntry indexed by ostPoePortCfgIndex to check ostPoePortPseEnable and ostPoePortPse60wMode per port, then read ostPoePortPseStatus together with ostPoePortPseVoltageSupplied and ostPoePortPseCurrentSupplied to confirm a connected powered device is actually receiving power. A port showing ostPoePortPseStatus indicating a fault while ostPoeGlobalCfgTotalPwr is near its ostPoeGlobalCfgPwrLimitationEnable threshold would reveal the chassis has hit its total power budget and is denying power to that port.

What Can Be Monitored

  • per-port PSE enable/mode status
  • per-port voltage and current supplied
  • per-port PSE fault/operational status
  • global PoE power budget and limitation status
  • PD heartbeat monitoring status
