Organization: Omnitron Systems Technology, Inc.

Last Updated: 2015-05-13

Category: Media Converters

Description: Defines textual conventions shared across Omnitron Systems Technology media converter MIB modules.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is OMNITRON-TC-MIB?

OMNITRON-TC-MIB is a supporting SNMP module from Omnitron Systems Technology that defines shared textual conventions used across the company's iConverter media converter and NetOutlook management MIB family. Rather than exposing device data itself, it establishes common data types, enumerations, and naming conventions that other Omnitron MIBs build on for consistency. It has no direct role in monitoring hardware or software status, since it contains no runtime objects of its own, but it underpins the type definitions used by companion MIBs that do report card, port, and chassis health for iConverter media converter chassis. As a textual-conventions module it is inherently dependent on being loaded alongside the actual Omnitron device MIBs that reference its types. It is used in deployments of Omnitron iConverter media converter chassis managed through Omnitron's NetOutlook software or third-party SNMP tools, with the OMNITRON-TC-MIB reference supplying the shared types those companion MIBs depend on.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in OMNITRON-TC-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Omnitron iConverter media converter chassis

Monitoring Examples

The sample objects (omnitron, icAgent) are top-level identifiers used to root the Omnitron enterprise OID tree and iConverter agent branch rather than monitorable runtime data. This module is a textual-conventions/definitions module, not one exposing live operational data, so there is no realistic polling scenario to describe. Any actual monitoring (e.g., port status, card presence) would occur through separate Omnitron iConverter MIBs that import types from this module.
