What Is OG-SIGNAL-MIB?
OG-SIGNAL-MIB is an Opengear vendor MIB that reports cellular modem and signal status on Opengear out-of-band console servers equipped with 3G/4G/LTE failover modules. It exposes event-style data about signal state changes, carrier registration, and the serial/console ports associated with the cellular interface. Its main monitoring value is in tracking the health and availability of the cellular backup link used for out-of-band access, so operators can tell whether the modem has lost signal, deregistered from its carrier, or otherwise degraded, which is critical when the primary network path is down. It complements other Opengear MIBs (such as OG-SENSOR-MIB) as part of a broader out-of-band management information model. It is typically deployed in remote or branch sites where a cellular uplink serves as an emergency management path when the primary WAN fails, and administrators often begin with an OG-SIGNAL-MIB download to load it into their monitoring platform.

Monitoring Examples
An operator would monitor ogsgnlEventTable, examining ogsgnlEventEntry rows keyed by ogsgnlEventIndex for ogsgnlEventType and ogsgnlEventState to see the modem's current signal or registration condition, alongside ogsgnlEventPortNumber and ogsgnlEventPortLabel identifying which cellular/console port the event applies to. A transition of ogsgnlEventState to a degraded or lost-signal value would indicate the cellular failover path is unavailable, a critical finding if the primary network link is also down. The ogsgnlMibNotifications group allows such state changes to be delivered as traps for immediate alerting.
