What Is OG-DATA-MIB?
OG-DATA-MIB is a vendor-specific MIB from Opengear for its out-of-band console-server/management appliances, providing data-logging status for serial and data ports handled by the device. It exposes an event table recording per-event byte counts, timestamps (in seconds), the originating device/port, and the event's logging state. As a monitoring MIB it is oriented toward software/service status rather than general chassis hardware: it lets an administrator confirm that serial console data logging is actively capturing traffic from attached devices and can reveal a port that has stopped logging (indicating a lost serial connection or a device that has gone silent). It defines its own notification and conformance branches (ogdataMibNotifications, ogDataMibCompliances) without an apparent dependency on other external MIBs. It is typically deployed on Opengear console servers used for remote out-of-band management of routers, switches, and servers in data centers or remote sites. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the OG-DATA-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

Monitoring Examples
An operator would poll ogdataEventTable/ogdataEventEntry, indexed by ogdataEventIndex, checking ogdataEventBytes and ogdataEventSeconds for a given ogdataEventDevice to confirm serial console traffic is still being captured; if ogdataEventState shows an inactive or stopped condition for a port that should be logging an always-on device console, this indicates the attached device or its serial connection has failed. The event log can also be cross-referenced by device name to identify which specific out-of-band port has gone quiet during an incident.
