What Is NWSD-MIB?

NWSD-MIB is a Radware private MIB (part of the RND-MIB/RADWARE-MIB family, dated 1995) that actually models the Web Server Director (WSD) global/DNS-based load-balancing 'proximity' feature of Radware's Vgate product line, rather than the port status, VLAN assignment, and forwarding statistics its name might suggest — the module's real content covers rsWSDProximityHopsWeight, rsWSDProximityLatencyWeight, and rsWSDProximityLoadWeight (the relative weighting Radware's dispatcher gives to network-hop distance, latency, and site load when deciding which server farm should answer a client), plus rsWSDDNSttl (DNS reply TTL), the rsWSDURLSuperFarmTable mapping specific incoming URLs to farm IP addresses, and rsWSDClientGroupingMask for grouping clients by IP mask. It is a configuration MIB for GSLB-style traffic direction rather than a hardware or interface-statistics MIB, so monitoring it is useful for confirming that proximity weighting and URL-to-farm mappings are configured as intended and that DNS TTL values match operational expectations. It depends on the broader RADWARE-MIB/RND-MIB enterprise tree (rsNWSD is a subtree under rsServerDispatcher) and is deployed on Radware Web Server Director appliances performing DNS-based global server load balancing; administrators researching this older module often look up the NWSD-MIB MIB Browser view to see its full proximity and URL-farm object tree.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in NWSD-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

What Can Be Monitored

  • proximity weighting for hops/latency/load
  • DNS reply TTL configuration
  • URL-to-farm mapping table entries
  • URL row status
  • client IP grouping mask

Supported Devices

  • Radware Web Server Director (WSD) / Vgate global load-balancing appliances

Monitoring Examples

An operator reviews rsWSDProximityHopsWeight, LatencyWeight, and LoadWeight to confirm the dispatcher is weighting site-selection decisions as intended, and checks rsWSDURLSuperFarmTable entries' rsWSDURLStatus; an unexpectedly low rsWSDDNSttl combined with an inactive URL-farm row status would indicate DNS-based redirection is not routing clients to the intended farm.
