Category: DSL and Broadband Access

Description: Monitors chassis power, temperature, fan, and card insertion status for Paradyne nTech DSL platforms.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is NTNTECH-CHASSIS-STATUS-MIB?

NTNTECH-CHASSIS-STATUS-MIB is a Paradyne Corporation (nettonet/NTNTECH) enterprise MIB that monitors chassis-level hardware status across the Paradyne IPD12000, IPD4000, and Mini/Micro DSLAM product lines. Under chsStaMIBObjects/chsStaValues/valMultiplexerUplinkModule, it defines mumStaTable (multiplexer uplink module chassis type, fan state, MAC address, firmware revision, module type per mumStaIndex) and mumStaMgmtPortTable (management port type, link state, rate, and duplex), plus uplink interface module tables — uimStaTable, uimStaEthTable, uimStaT1Table, and uimStaE1Table — covering per-port link state and rate/duplex for Ethernet, T1, and E1 uplink modules. This gives operators direct visibility into DSLAM chassis health: fan status, module presence/type, and uplink port link state and speed/duplex settings, which is critical for diagnosing DSLAM hardware failures or degraded uplink connectivity in the field. It depends on NTNTECH-ROOT-MIB for its base OID tree and textual conventions (NtnDisplayString, NtnMacAddress), and is deployed on Paradyne DSLAM chassis and their multiplexer/uplink interface modules in DSL access networks. Field techs troubleshooting these DSLAMs often start with the NTNTECH-CHASSIS-STATUS-MIB MIB Browser view of the mumStaTable and uimSta tables.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in NTNTECH-CHASSIS-STATUS-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Paradyne IPD12000, IPD4000, and Mini/Micro DSLAM chassis (AMD8000-12, SMD2000 series, SuD2011/SuD2003/SuD2002 series, MUM200-2/MUM2000-2, and UIM uplink modules)

Monitoring Examples

An operator polls mumStaTable's mumStaFanState for chassis cooling status and uimStaEthTable's uimStaEthRxTxRate/uimStaEthDuplex for the Ethernet uplink module; a fan state showing failure combined with a T1/E1 uplink table showing an unexpected link-down state would point to a chassis overheating condition affecting uplink stability.

What Can Be Monitored

  • chassis fan state
  • multiplexer uplink module type and firmware revision
  • management port link state and rate/duplex
  • Ethernet/T1/E1 uplink module link state and rate/duplex
