Description: Manages Alcatel/Newbridge Networks VP/VC trail termination point configuration and performance monitoring.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is NNCEXTVPTTP-MIB?
NNCEXTVPTTP-MIB is an Alcatel/Newbridge Networks proprietary MIB for configuring and monitoring Virtual Path (VP) and Virtual Channel (VC) Trail Termination Points (TTPs) in an ATM network, primarily via the nncCrVpTrailTerminationPointTable. It exposes configuration data defining where VP/VC trail termination occurs on a connection, along with associated performance monitoring parameters for those termination points. Its monitoring value centers on the software/connection-layer status of ATM trails, letting administrators confirm a VP trail termination point is correctly configured and actively monitoring its segment, revealing misconfigured or missing termination points that would break end-to-end OAM continuity checking. It builds on standard ATM terminology (VPI/VCI, VPL/VCL) as defined by ITU-T and ATM Forum specifications for virtual path/channel identification. It is typically deployed on Alcatel/Newbridge ATM switching equipment that requires VP-level OAM trail monitoring. Engineers can download the NNCEXTVPTTP-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in NNCEXTVPTTP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Alcatel/Newbridge Networks ATM switches (Alcatel Carrier Internetworking Division)
Monitoring Examples
An administrator would poll entries in nncCrVpTrailTerminationPointTable to confirm a given VPI (Virtual Path Identifier) has an active trail termination point configured with performance monitoring enabled. A missing or disabled entry for an otherwise active VP would reveal that end-to-end OAM cell monitoring is not being performed on that path, leaving faults on that segment undetected. Beyond this table, no additional object names were captured in the sample set.
What Can Be Monitored
- VP trail termination point configuration
- VPI/VCI association
- trail termination performance monitoring status
