Description: Manages ATM service registry for LECS and other ATM services on Cisco ATM switches.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is CISCO-ATM-SERVICE-REGISTRY-MIB?

CISCO-ATM-SERVICE-REGISTRY-MIB is a Cisco enterprise MIB for ATM (Asynchronous Transfer Mode) switches that exposes the ILMI Service Registry, a mechanism used by ATM devices to advertise and discover services such as the LAN Emulation Configuration Server (LECS). It provides configuration and read-only data about registered services, their ports, ATM addresses, and service identifiers on a per-port basis. This MIB is used mainly for configuration visibility rather than hardware/software health monitoring, though an administrator can use it to confirm that expected ATM services are correctly registered and reachable on a given switch port, which indirectly reflects the operational status of ATM signaling software. It builds on ATM Forum ILMI conventions and Cisco's ATM switch software architecture rather than a general IETF standard. It is typically deployed in legacy Cisco ATM switch fabrics where LAN Emulation or other ATM services need to be dynamically discovered by attached devices. Engineers can download the CISCO-ATM-SERVICE-REGISTRY-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-ATM-SERVICE-REGISTRY-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Cisco ATM switch

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would poll asrSrvcRegTable (indexed via asrSrvcRegEntry by port and asrSrvcRegServiceID) to see which services, such as LECS, are registered on a given ATM port, along with asrSrvcRegATMAddress showing the address clients should use to reach that service. If asrSrvcRegRowStatus shows an entry as not active, or an expected service ID/address pairing is missing, that indicates the service was never registered or was removed, which would break ATM client bootstrap. This is primarily a configuration/discovery table rather than a performance-counter table.

What Can Be Monitored

  • registered ATM service entries
  • service ID to ATM address mapping
  • port-level service registration
  • row status of service registry entries
