Description: Manages IEEE 802.1Qbb Priority-based Flow Control enabling and per-priority pause on Netgear DCB switches.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is NETGEAR-PFC-MIB?

NETGEAR-PFC-MIB is a Netgear private MIB implementing IEEE 802.1Qbb Priority-based Flow Control (PFC) for Data Center Bridging (DCB) on Netgear switches, allowing lossless per-priority pause frames to be enabled and tuned on switch ports. The only object group available, agentPfcCfgGroup, indicates this MIB is primarily configuration-oriented, exposing settings that control which traffic priorities receive pause behavior rather than exposing hardware fault counters directly. Its monitoring value is chiefly software/feature status: confirming PFC is enabled and configured correctly on ports carrying storage or lossless-required traffic (e.g., FCoE, iSCSI), which indirectly protects against packet loss under congestion. As a DCB feature MIB it is closely tied to the IEEE 802.1Qbb/802.1Qaz standards and typically deployed alongside other vendor DCB and standard interface MIBs. It is used in data center switches where converged/lossless Ethernet fabrics require flow control tuning. Engineers can download the NETGEAR-PFC-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in NETGEAR-PFC-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Netgear DCB (Data Center Bridging) switch

Monitoring Examples

An admin would read agentPfcCfgGroup to confirm PFC configuration, such as which priority classes are pause-enabled, matches the intended DCB policy for storage traffic. Since only a single configuration group is provided in the sample objects, this MIB appears to expose configuration state rather than live counters, so a realistic monitoring scenario is limited to configuration verification, e.g., catching PFC unexpectedly disabled on a port carrying FCoE traffic, rather than runtime traffic statistics.

What Can Be Monitored

  • PFC enable/configuration state per priority
