Description: Defines managed objects for monitoring and controlling Network Mobility (NEMO) functionality on Mobile IPv6 nodes.

IPNetwork Monitor uses several OIDs from this MIB in network discovery and polling the applicable devices. Start monitoring NEMO-MIB with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor.

What Is NEMO-MIB?

NEMO-MIB is the standard IETF MEXT Working Group MIB (RFC 5488) for NEMO (Network Mobility) Basic Support, monitoring Mobile Router-to-Home-Agent mobility state. Its objects cover general capabilities/status and a counter-discontinuity time, a Mobile Router binding-list table (mode, MR flag, home/care-of address prefix length, active egress interface, established home-tunnel interface), mobility message sent/received counts, prefix-registration mode, a Home Agent mobile-network-prefix table (sequence number, type, prefix/length, source), and a binding-cache table (MR flag, mode). As a configuration/status MIB it lets an administrator confirm whether a mobile router's NEMO tunnel to its home agent is established and watch mobility signaling volume. It is deployed on routers implementing IETF NEMO Basic Support (RFC 5488). Engineers can download the NEMO-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in NEMO-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Routers implementing IETF NEMO Basic Support (RFC 5488)

Monitoring Examples

An administrator checks nemoMrBLEstablishedHomeTunnelIfIndex to confirm a mobile router's NEMO tunnel to its home agent is up on an IETF NEMO-capable router.

What Can Be Monitored

  • NEMO mobile router binding and tunnel status
