All MIBs › MSSSERVER8260-MIB
Category: Hardware Inventory, Switch Management
Description: Handles configuration, interface, and system resource status for the MSS Server 8260.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is MSSSERVER8260-MIB?
MSSSERVER8260-MIB is an SNMPv1-format enterprise MIB whose ORGANIZATION and CONTACT-INFO comments identify it as an IBM MIB - despite the null vendor field supplied - for the IBM Nways Multiprotocol Switched Services (MSS) Server blade that plugs into an IBM 8260 chassis backplane. It defines a mandatory mss8260Prod group with mss8260ResetFlag (remote reboot control), mss8260DRAMinstalled, mss8260NotifyStatus (trap enable/disable), and mss8260TempThresholdStatus (normal/warning/shutdown), plus a mss8260PCAdapter group with mss8260PCAdapTable listing PCMCIA adapter slots and their card type (hard drive, modem, flash card, or not present). Three TRAP-TYPE definitions - mssServer8260ELSTrapV2 (Event Logging System messages), mss8260PCAdapTypeChg, and mss8260TempThresholdChg - notify a manager of logged events, PC-card changes, and temperature-threshold transitions respectively. Because it predates SMIv2 and models a single blade rather than a chassis-wide fabric, it is a small hardware-status MIB useful mainly for catching an overheating blade or an unexpected PC-card removal on legacy IBM 8260-based multiprotocol switching hardware; administrators can download the MSSSERVER8260-MIB file to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in MSSSERVER8260-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- IBM Nways Multiprotocol Switched Services (MSS) Server blade, IBM 8260 chassis
Monitoring Examples
An operator polls mss8260TempThresholdStatus on the blade, and a transition from normal(1) to warning(2) or shutdown(3) - paired with an mss8260TempThresholdChg trap - would indicate the MSS Server blade is overheating in its 8260 chassis slot.
What Can Be Monitored
- reset/reboot flag state
- installed DRAM size
- temperature threshold status
- PC adapter (PCMCIA) slot type
- trap notification enable status
- ELS event, PC-card, and temperature-change traps
