Description: IANA MIB defining textual conventions for power state sets used in energy management and power state management MIBs.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is IANAPowerStateSet-MIB?
IANAPowerStateSet-MIB is an IANA-maintained MIB that defines the PowerStateSet Textual Convention, enumerating standardized power states (such as full power, low power, standby, and off) for use by energy-management MIBs across vendors, and is again purely definitional. It belongs to the IANA-maintained registry family of MIBs used to keep power-state terminology consistent across the industry's energy/power-management standards, notably the IETF Energy Management (EMAN) framework. As a TC-only module it defines no runtime managed objects itself, so it cannot report uptime, temperature, or hardware status directly; instead, other MIBs import this Textual Convention to represent the power state of monitored equipment. It is a dependency for any energy-management or power-state MIB that models device power states in a standardized way. It is used industry-wide wherever standards-based energy management is deployed to track equipment power states, such as PDUs and UPS devices. Engineers can download the IANAPowerStateSet-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in IANAPowerStateSet-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, not tied to a specific manufacturer
- energy/power-managed network and IT equipment (indirectly, via importing MIBs)
Monitoring Examples
This is a definitional Textual-Convention module (PowerStateSet) with no runtime data objects of its own, so no monitoring scenario applies directly; it supplies the standardized power-state enumeration that energy-management MIBs import to represent device power states.
