Description: MPLS-LDP-CAPABILITY module

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is MPLS-LDP-CAPABILITY?

MPLS-LDP-CAPABILITY is an IETF AGENT-CAPABILITIES module that documents which parts of the standard MPLS-LDP-MIB a particular SNMP agent implementation actually supports, rather than defining any managed objects itself. AGENT-CAPABILITIES modules like this one are used for conformance declaration during MIB compliance checking, listing supported groups, variations, and any implementation limitations for the referenced MIB (MPLS-LDP-MIB). It exposes no runtime hardware or software status data of its own — there are no counters, tables, or scalar values to poll for uptime, temperature, load, or faults. By definition it depends entirely on the MPLS-LDP-MIB it describes, since its sole content is a capability statement about that MIB's implementation. Such modules are used by MIB compilers and NMS conformance tools rather than being polled during day-to-day monitoring, so this MPLS-LDP-CAPABILITY reference is consulted at compile time rather than during live operations.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in MPLS-LDP-CAPABILITY. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • vendor-neutral, standards-based conformance module, not tied to a specific manufacturer; describes agent support for MPLS-LDP-MIB on any MPLS label-switching router

Monitoring Examples

This is an AGENT-CAPABILITIES conformance module with no data-bearing objects of its own; it has no sample objects and cannot be honestly described as supporting any live monitoring scenario. Its sole function is to declare which MPLS-LDP-MIB groups and variations a specific agent implementation supports, for use by MIB compliance/compiler tools.

RFC description

SNMP MIB capability module defined in RFC 3815 for MPLS Label Distribution Protocol management, part of the standard MPLS-LDP-STD-MIB used to manage label switching across multiprotocol networks.

Start monitoring Vendor-neutral IETF conformance module (any MPLS label-switching router, LDP agent capabilities) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
